Pausing vs archiving a pool

When a pool needs to stop being serviced, you have two tools, and they are not interchangeable.

Pause: "we will be back"

Pause is for winterized pools, renovations, or a non-payment hold. Set it from the pool's Edit modal (with an optional note like "closed until April") or resume with one tap from the banner on the pool page.

What pausing does:

• Removes the pool from route optimization and the due list immediately, and drops its already-planned future stops.
• Keeps every schedule configured, so Resume restores the exact cadence with zero re-setup.
• Still allows a deliberate one-off visit (a closing visit, a mid-winter check) via Schedule Visit.
• Quiets the "reading is stale, retest due" nudge on the pool page, since nobody should be testing a covered pool.

What pausing does NOT do:

• It does not free a slot under your plan's pool limit. Pause is temporary by definition.
• It does not change billing. Recurring billing lives on the customer, not the pool. If a customer's only pool is paused for the winter, decide separately whether their plan should skip those months (the recurring plan's month picker exists for exactly this).

Archive: "this one is done"

Archiving (deleting the pool from your active list) is for pools you will not service again.

• Frees the slot under your plan's pool limit.
• Turns off its schedules and drops future stops.
• Keeps all history: the permanent pool record, chemistry, visits, and photos remain readable forever.
